Health Technology Wales (HTW) is pleased to announce the return of its training sessions in collaboration with Life Sciences Hub Wales.

Health Economics (HE) 101 and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) 101 will be delivered as webinars as part of the upcoming Value in Health Week.

The free 90-minute webinars will introduce the key concepts and methods in HTA and HE to build understanding and capacity across the health, care and industry sectors.

Dr Susan Myles, Director of HTW, said: “We’re really excited to adapt to the virtual climate and deliver this crucial training. A broad range of stakeholders across health and social care can benefit by understanding key concepts and methods in HTA and HE, which can make a real difference for service users and providers in Wales. Whether you’re an experienced practitioner or have a passing interest in health and social care, the themes we explore will be topical and equip you with transferable skills to take back to your role.”

HE 101 will take place at 3pm on Monday 12 October 2020. It will introduce the methods of economic evaluation used to understand the cost effectiveness of health and care technologies, and how they impact on resources. Click here to register.

HTA 101 will take place at 3pm on Wednesday 14 October 2020. It will present the key methods used to appraise health and care technologies, to understand their potential value to service users, providers and technology partners. Click here to register.

Real-life examples from HTW’s appraisals will be used in the training, which was delivered to over 200 people in 2019. It will also increase awareness of decision-making processes in relation to policy and clinical commissioning.
