HTW officially joins EUnetHTA
Health Technology Wales (HTW) is now an Associate Member of the European Network for Health Technology Assessment (EUnetHTA).
The Executive Board of EUnetHTA accepted an application to formalise our membership in October and we’ve now been officially welcomed to the international collaboration.
EUnetHTA, which was first proposed in 2004 and established in 2009, is a facilitator of high-quality health technology assessment (HTA) collaboration in Europe. Its mission is to support collaboration between European HTA organisations and bring added value to healthcare systems at European, national and regional levels.
“Working with European colleagues who share our values is of huge importance to our role to improve the quality of care in Wales,” said Dr Susan Myles, Director of Health Technology Wales. “We’ve already collaborated with EUnetHTA to ensure the best use of evidence and expertise in the production of our national Guidance, and we’re committed to continuing our relationship.
“Through the network, we promote more effective use of resources, increase evidence-informed decision making and exchange methodological information. EUnetHTA’s structure will help us to benefit healthcare systems in both Wales and across Europe.”
In 2020, we’ve co-authored a number of collaborative reviews with EUnetHTA in response to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. These include the role of antibody tests, diagnostic accuracy of molecular methods and convalescent plasma therapy.
